   The republic of Bulgaria is situated in the south east part of Europe, in the eastern part of the Balkan Peninsula. The North has a boundary with Romania and on the west with the  Serbia. On the south west it is conterminous with former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia while on the south-east it is contiguous to Turkey and Greece. On the east the country is bounded by the Black Sea.
   The total length of the Bulgarian border line is 2245 km, 1181km of which are land frontier, 686 km river and 378 km sea frontage.
   The country is now a full member of European Union and NATO. Bulgaria  is a politically stable country,  and the introduction of a currency board in 1997 stabilised the country's economy. Bulgarian laws are in accordance with the laws in other countries of the EU.

    Bulgaria have a variety of natural forms, located in the range of 0 and 2,925 m. altitude. Its territory includes part of the lower Danube Plain, The Balkan Range – part of the Alpine and Himalayan chain, part of the Thracian lowland and to the south – the mountain structures of the Macedonian - Thracian massif. The best known mountains are Rila (peak Mussala – 2,925 m.), Pirin (Vihren – 2,914 m.), Vitosha (Cherni Vrah – 2,291 m.), Stara Planina (the Balkan range - Botev Peak – 2,376 m.), and the Rhodopes (Golyam Perelik- 2,191 m.). The mountains occupy half of this country’s territory, with the high-mountain relief – i.e. at an altitude above 1,600 m., comprising 5 % of its entire area.
    The Bulgarian mountains easily accessible and the presence of towns and villages in them that have preserved the authentic Bulgarian spirit and hospitality, gives a chance for receiving and accommodating tourists at village houses.

    The rivers rise mainly in the highest mountains and flow into the Black Sea and into the Aegean Sea. Bulgaria has 526 rivers. The only navigable river is the Danube, that lies along the North Bulgarian border. The longest rivers on the territory of Bulgaria: Maritsa, Iskar, Toundga, Kamchiya,
Struma, Osum, Yantra, Arda etc. There are good prerequisites for the development of adventure tourism!
    The natural lakes are about 330. The largest are the Black Sea lakes, the most numerous (over 260) are the high-mountain glacial lakes in the Rila and Pirin mountains. Dams have been built as a part of waterpower systems – Iskar, Arda, Batak Water Power System.

    Beautiful bays and whimsical rocks, long golden beaches with sand dunes and warm clear sea create the attractive force of the Bulgarian Southern Black Seacoast. Nature and modern construction work here in harmony. This area has, and continues to be developed into summer resorts and holiday villages.
    The sandy sea bottoms gently slope, making bathing and swimming safe for even the youngest holidaymakers.
    There are more than 240 hours of sunshine in May and September and more than 300 hours in July and August, and with an average temperature of 28 degrees.
